Forced Air Zoning

Forced air zoning is the separation of temperature controlled heating and cooling zones within the home ie: main floor zone and basement zone. Zoning is particularly useful where normal heat distribution patterns result in uneven temperature control. For example, a home that is partly below grade can use zoning to eliminate uneven temperature control between the basement and the rest of the home. Large homes that might have long, unequal length duct runs can us zoning to equalize the delivery of conditioned air. Homes with many large windows can use zoning to compensate for solar heat gain and radiation losses at night. Zones can be determined by use, occupancy, location or outside exposure.

Along with providing comfort, zoning can provide energy savings by keeping various zones at desired set points without over-cooling or over-heating other zones. In effect, the system conditions only the portions (or zones) which need to be conditioned. This translates into shorter compressor run times and ultimately lower space conditioning bills.

Bag Filtration

Bag Filters can remove up to 95% of particulates in the air. They are particularly useful in a home with occupants who have dust sensitivities, asthma or allergies. The bag filter is constructed with 100% synthetic media. The Individual pockets are formed by span stitching down the length of the pockets, which allows for maximum utilization of the media. Each pocket is fastened to the next with an "L" shaped support rib, preventing the pocket from pulling free under adverse conditions. The entire assembly is encased in a galvanized steel frame to prevent racking during installation.

Though initially more expensive then a standard filter, their outstanding performance, and the fact that they need replacing only once every three years, makes their long term operating cost far less than a good quality disposable filter.

Humidify for Health and Comfort

Without proper humidity, rest can be anything but pleasant. Dry skin, scratchy throats, and painful coughs are the norm in many homes, especially during long winters. Humidifiers maintain your home’s optimum humidity, which in turn maintains your body’s comfort and health. A properly humidified environment also helps protect your furniture, woodwork, and plants. Of course, different humidifiers offer different benefits. Steam humidifiers offer maximum moisture at all times, as the humidifier works in conjunction with the Heat Pump providing humidification year round. Bypass humidifier require the heating/cooling cycle to be engaged in order to distribute humidification.

Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) With Posh Controls

Heat Recovery Ventilators provide quiet, comfortable and continuous fresh air year-round. They prevent the stuffiness, odours and condensation problems of an unventilated home.

An HRV delivers fresh air throughout your home while the stale, moist air exhausts outside.

Inside the HRV, heat in the warm airstream transfers to the cool airstream. You benefit from energy savings while keeping the air fresh, comfortable and healthy. Specialty filters and attractive, easy-to-use controls enhance the performance of your HRV to best suit your family's needs.

HRV’s are well suited for in-floor heating applications.

Posh Control System

The PoshTime® remote switch can operate one or two ‘whisper’ Power Grills (WPG). Activated in its normal default time period, the PoshTime® switch:

  • boosts the Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) to high

  • fully opens the ‘whisper’ Power Grill

  • automatically times down for a pre-set period, then returns the HRV to its continuous speed and returns the WPG to its normal at-rest position

These actions can increase that room’s exhaust rate by up to eight times.

Hydronic Options

Options for hydronics include radiant floor heating for the entire house or partial radiant heat for certain areas like the basement where a warm floor is particularly appealing. It can also be used to heat your garage floor, provide a snow melt system for your driveway and heat your pool & hot tub. Hydronic options require a water to water heat exchanger.
